Hindley Town Boys and Girls FC
Kildare Street Development Update, March 2009
At the end of the 2006/7 season Hindley Town Boys and Girls FC where actively seeking and hopeful after much discussion of receiving grants from the Football Grants Authority, to develop our existing facilities at Kildare Street.
However even with the much appreciated support of our local MP Mr Burnham we where eventually forced to accept that to raise 50% of a £100,000 grant application ourselves would not be possible in the short term, and so other avenues needed to be explored.
As many of our parents and supporters will be aware at the end of the 2006/7 season the club held a very successful Race Night fund raiser for the Kildare Street Development Fund which raised nearly £4000.
After several meetings of both senior and junior committees at Hindley Town it was considered that the monies raised should be used to develop the facilities at Kildare Street at the earliest opportunity, and work began on this project at end of the 2007/8 season.
The land around the existing pitch was levelled and re seeded to create a larger playing area to facilitate the introduction of 3 full size pitches at the earliest opportunity with the added bonus that for the 2008/9 season all of Hindley Town Boys and Girls Mini League Section u6s – u11s plus the u13s Girls team 9v9 would move to Kildare Street from various grounds around the locality.
The changing rooms have also been re furbished with walls and floor painted many repairs undertaken.
A new kitchen facility created thus giving the club another revenue stream.
Hindley Town Boys and Girls FC signposts have been erected at the bottom of Kildare Street and on the entrances fencing.
A new car park has been created and surfaced around the changing area with another area being levelled.
This and the resurfacing of the road into the ground will be the next stage of the development, along with re surfacing around the changing rooms, all of which should be completed for the start of the 2009/10 season.
Repairs to the pitch have been carried out through the season, and grass cutting and rolling pitches has been right up to date.
Having consulted all the managers concerned our determination to develop Kildare Street despite the setbacks has brought the club closer together and created the family atmosphere that now signifies our club.
